Julia Saad, Student Therapist

Hello!

My name is Julia and my pronouns are she/her.

I am excited to be joining Collective Healing Centre as a counselling intern. I am completing my Masters of Counselling degree from City University after having spent 11 years working as a teacher and Learning Coach. My teaching experience has allowed me the opportunity to work closely with children as well as their teachers and families. I value the rich collaboration that comes from creating a safe space for individuals to seek help when they need it. I hope to bring this value into my new profession as a counsellor.

As a therapist, my focus is encouraging clients to share their stories authentically in a client-focused space. I value each client’s identity mosaic and the role that each piece of that identity plays in an individual’s life journey. My counselling space is safe, welcoming and non-judgmental. Empowering you as the author of your own story is most important, and I am honoured to walk alongside you in this journey.

My approach to counselling includes Narrative Therapy (NT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). I am flexible to pivot between techniques and approaches to best serve you as the client.

I am eager to work with individuals of all ages and I am comfortable working with many presenting issues. My areas of focus include stress/burnout, boundaries, relationship challenges, grief/loss, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I am also passionate about helping 2SLGBTQI+ youth through gender identity and sexual orientation transitions. I am also bilingual and can communicate fluently in French.

It can be uncomfortable to work towards change, but it is when we experienced discomfort that we also experience growth. I am grateful to have the opportunity to witness your future growth!
