Child Therapy

A specialized area of counselling that supports children in expressing emotions, developing coping skills, and working through challenges in ways that are developmentally appropriate. Because children often communicate through play, art, and behaviour rather than words alone, child therapists use creative and age-sensitive approaches to help children process their experiences.

In practice, child therapy may include play therapy, art activities, cognitive-behavioural techniques, or family sessions, depending on the child’s age and needs. This form of therapy is often used to address concerns such as anxiety, behavioural difficulties, trauma, grief, family changes, or social challenges. By creating a safe and supportive environment, child therapy helps children build resilience, improve self-understanding, and strengthen relationships with caregivers.
